Boca de Yuma the small fishing village

Very informative is the "CASA PONCHE DE LEON" to visit at our excursion "Yuma". How often do you get to step into the home of a 16th century Spanish explorer? Juan Ponce de León’s residence continues to stand in the southeastern town of San Rafael de Yuma, close to Higüey, where he lived before heading out into the seas to conquer neighboring Puerto Rico, and later head to Florida. The stone building was turned into a museum, sitting in the middle of a verdant yard. Visitors can tour the interior to see a few preserved household items and artifacts, including 16th century furniture. History buffs will appreciate this pit-stop on the way to or from Punta Cana.

Boca de Yuma Tours with "My Top Tours"

Boca de Yuma is a small fishing village located on the northeastern tip of Parque Nacional del Este. The village is a bit off the beaten
track for tourists, meaning you’ll find a peaceful place to hang among the locals. The harbor provides an easy stroll, with many small restaurants that serve fresh seafood.

Though there is a small stretch of sand, Boca de Yuma is mainly about experiencing the local way of life, rather hitting the beach.
